Upper West Side Love Story
Growing up, I loved watching You’ve Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally. These movies fueled my love for Meg Ryan, romantic comedies, and the Upper West Side. When we heard about Karen and Mordechai’s love story, I was so excited - their relationship is truly the stuff that Upper West Side love stories are made of. Set up by mutual friends in October 2018, Karen is a children’s book editor and Mordechai is a second year medical resident. Despite their busy schedules, they make time to see each other whenever they can and enjoy all the wonderful things that the city has to offer. Karen and Mordechai go out to eat a lot, which sometimes involves a bit of compromising because Mordechai loves bitter foods and Karen favors the sweet. (I mean opposites attract, right?) They also love going to sports games, playing pool, and even glow in the dark monster mini golf. Sign me up to third wheel on a date with Karen and Mordechai!
Valuing the Important Things
With their busy schedules, Karen and Mordechai always make time to talk on the phone when they can’t see each other. They are Modern Orthodox Jews, so Mordechai makes sure to call Karen every Friday afternoon before Shabbat, which is extremely meaningful to both of them. Mordechai’s schedule at the hospital is intense (he never even gets a full weekend off!) and Karen has been there to support him - even if it’s just by having a cozy night in binge watching a new favorite TV show. They connect over long, spontaneous talks that can happen on their couches, in restaurants, and of course in the bar after Harry Potter trivia.
The Couple that Plays Games Together Stays Together
Karen and Mordechai love to play games together. One of their favorite NYC spots is Hex, a board game cafe (a couple after our own hearts!). They love playing Monopoly, Bananagrams, and now the Couple Bundle that is all about them and their memories! (Had to get in a little plug there.) We loved making this game for them so we reached out to see if they would like to be featured on our blog and we got some exciting news: KAREN AND MORDECHAI ARE ENGAGED! Cassie and I think about our Bundlers all the time and we are so happy when we find out that amazing things are happening in their lives. This isn’t the first time a couple has gotten engaged after playing Bundle, so I guess the question is whether happy couples play Bundle or if couples become happier after playing Bundle? Karen and Mordechai - we wish you a lifetime of happiness, love, and game playing. Mazel Tov!
