Cabin Fever Prevention

We hope that you are feeling healthy and taking great care of yourselves. Taking care of yourself isn’t just about washing your hands (although it definitely is a necessity - the amount of times we are washing our hands to the tune of ‘Happy Birthday’ has made us never want to hear the song again), but it’s also about taking care of your mental health. We’re here with some recommendations to make sure you don’t get cabin fever.

BOOKS!

The books In Five Years and How to be Fine
Take your brain on an adventure...

Fiction:

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

This book is so, so good. I’m hesitant to say much more about it because I don’t want spoil it for you. *Jackie here* - I’m good at secret keeping but there have a few times when I’ve accidentally revealed a surprise or a big spoiler for a TV show, movie, or book. So I’m going to be very careful not to reveal too much. Has anyone ever asked you the question, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” This book takes that question and turns it inside out and upside down and you’re going to love every second of it. In Five Years came out on March 10th and I stayed up almost all night to finish it because I couldn’t put it down. (I’m sure I was really fun to be around the next day.)

Non- Fiction:

How To Be Fine : What We Learned from Living by the Rules of 50 Self-Help Books by Jolenta Greenberg and Kristen Meinzer

Hosts of By the Book Podcast Jolenta Greenberg and Kristen Meinzer lived by the rules of 50 self help books and share all of their experiences. These gals are so insightful, funny, and they have a ton of of heart. Plus they read 50 self help books so you don’t have to - you can just reap the benefits. How To Be Fine comes out on March 17th (Saint Patrick’s Day!) so pre-order your copy today. (And maybe stock up on some green beer while you're at it?)

Okay, so we have taken care of your mind work out, but we have to keep your body feeling good. There are lots of good at home work out classes, but we want to share one we love because she is so uplifting and positive. Plus, it’s free!

Adriene is so soothing and encourages everyone practicing yoga to “find what feels good.” Sometimes her dog, Benji, even gets in on the yoga action. She has practices for everything - Full Body Yoga, Yoga for Chronic Pain, Yoga for Writers, Yoga for Cramps, and even Yoga for Inner Space Travel. (Yes, she wears a little alien suit for this one and yes she is totally adorable.)

TV!

You know we are on a Survivor kick right now so we are going to double down here. If you’re stuck in your house, there’s nothing like watching people who are stuck on an island to make you feel good! Hey, at least you’ve got food and a working toilet! (We hope.) There are so many seasons to watch through Hulu and Amazon that you’re not going to run out of episodes, plus it may even prompt you to create your own at home Survivor Challenges. Organize that closet, clean out that junk drawer, make that social call you’ve been putting off. Then, have an imaginary conversation with Survivor host Jeff Probst all about it. No, you’re definitely not going stir crazy or anything…
